New Improved Features Coming to Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM This Fall with 2022 Wave 2 Release – Part 2

We’re back with part 2 of our post exploring the 2022 Wave 2 Dynamics 365 CRM release features our CRM team is most excited about. If you haven’t already, don’t forget to check out part 1 of this post where we take a closer look at new release specifically for D365 Sales and D365 Marketing. Here, we’ll be diving into our favourite new features for collaboration with Teams and Outlook as well as overall user enhancements. Let’s get to it!

Collaboration Enhancements

New connectivity between Teams chats and the Activity Timeline – Available October 2022

D365 users know that collaboration on records doesn’t always take place within Dynamics 365 and with this latest update, tracking that activity is no problem at all. Now, users will have the ability to connect their Teams chat conversations directly to a D365 Activity Timeline. By linking a record with a conversation regarding that record, that chat, along with any attachments shared there, will be tracked in the Activity Timeline. This will allow users to collaborate with the platform of their choosing without having to worry about activities being missed in D365.

Sharing D365 records using “@” mentions – Available February 2023

In keeping with one of the major themes of this release, making collaboration on D365 records easier, Microsoft is introducing the ability to use “@” mentions for D365 records. Users will now be able to use the “@” feature to mention records within Teams and Outlook, just as users normally can with members of their organization. When an “@” mention is used for a record, a card will be inserted into your Outlook email or Teams message containing the key record information. This handy new feature will allow users to share high-level record details with users who do not have a D365 license within their normal communications channels, providing more insight into D365 records across organizations.

Overall User Enhancements

Edit related records from one spot – Available October 2022

Tired of clicking between related records in order to make changes or updates? Microsoft is introducing a new form component that will allow users to edit related record from one spot. For example, an organization that has account records will likely have a “Primary Contact” record related to it that describes contact details such as job title and business email address. Previously, if you wanted to edit the “Primary Contact” for an account, you would have to navigate to that related record. Now, that related “Primary Contact” record can be edited directly from the account record without ever having to click between two. It may seem like a small change, but for many D365 users this can translate into a major boost in efficiency and a more intuitive experience overall.

A new modern Advanced Find feature – Available October 2022

This new feature will replace the legacy Advanced Find and will allow users to search any record all from one sport in the Dataverse Search Bar. This new feature also includes updates to the creation of views, allowing users greater flexibility around personalization. You can read more about this feature in a post we wrote highlighting it in more detail following its initial announcement.

This new Wave 2 release continues to highlight Microsoft’s commitment to improving the user experience and expanding the capabilities of their Dynamics 365 CRM platforms. And remember, the features we’ve mentioned here and in part 1 of this post are just a few among a much larger release. You can read more about the full release of features here.
